Adapting

Our family
Moved cross-country to start medical school.
All day I learn science and humanities
So that I won’t lose my humanity
When my future patients need it most.
My wife,
Pregnant, nauseated,
Isolated from old friends by distance
And from new friends by COVID-19,
Somehow cares for our son without me.
No regrets.
Grateful.
